The Caribbean Studies Studio is a community of scholars, writers, scientists and creative practitioners whose work spans the greater Caribbean and its diasporas.
Our research, practice and events foster transdisciplinary exchanges across local, national and planetary scales.
Our research interests include:
Caribbean futures /|\ art and visual practice /|\ histories of rebellion
Afro-diasporic spiritual practices /|\ gender /|\ climate justice
Caribbean ecologies and geologies /|\ education /|\ literature /|\ diverse forms of knowledge production.
The Studio brings together a diverse array of scholars across History, English, Anthropology, Education, Volcanology, Film and Visual Practice.
Our researchers include senior, early career and community scholars, the current Chair of the Society for Caribbean Studies (UK).
We have built live partnerships with communities and colleagues in Dominica, St Lucia, St Vincent, Grenada, Montserrat, Jamaica, Trinidad, Caribbean Colombia and colleagues from the University of Guyana and all University of the West Indies three campuses (Barbados, Jamaica, Trinidad).
Importantly, our Bristol-based membership crosscuts the University of Bristol, University of The West of England and Caribbean community scholars based in our city.
